1. So 3rd Room is a fairly new band. How would you describe the bands sound?
We are¡Klike a soundtrack for visionaries. I think this sentence perfectly fits the sound of the band and our idea of music: something to feel and listen too but with visual elements also.
The sound are our feelings, the music¡¦s like a window you can watch through. A point of view through melodic female vocals, poignant piano, stunning guitars and heavy strings, the joining of classical orchestral elements with modern metal music.
2. 3rd Room¡¦s first release is the EP "Frame of Mind" The songs are very powerful. Tell us about the writing process for these amazing pieces.
¡§Frame of Mind¡¨ is an unusual sort of EP, it¡¦s a ¡§concept EP¡¨ all the songs contain an escalation of feelings, typical in classical music, and they sound like a single song. The first idea was to define our musical aim without keeping us close in a single kind of music. Sometimes there are synth and sometimes there are more ¡§pop-style¡¨ vocal parts but there are also powerful guitars.
Roberth composed the orchestra parts, the guitars and he also recorded a draft of the track. Then I wrote the lyrics inspired by his music¡Kand it¡¦s so easy for me because I really love his music. They¡¦re powerful because there¡¦s all our inspiration and strength in it. We worked for a long time on these songs trying to make them better every single day.
3. Has work started on a full length album, and will any of the songs from "Frame of Mind" be included?
Yes, I¡¦m so glad to tell you we¡¦re working on our first full length, it will be ready for the second half of the 2007 and it will include some tracks of ¡§Frame of Mind¡¨ the ones I love the most¡K
4. So you are also a drummer, is this your first time fronting a band?
Officially yes. It is my first time fronting a band and unfortunately, I¡¦m not a drummer yet but I¡¦ve had some different experiences on stage like theatre lessons and I studied dance for a lot of years¡KI know that a lot of singers study dance- I think it¡¦s another way to feel music inside your veins ;P and it¡¦s something that perfectly fits with song you know¡K
But for me dance is like keeping all my feeling and thoughts inside and being moved by them, but singing is a release,it takes out all I have deep inside of me.
5. What do you feel is the most important thing about being the voice of a band?
I think the most important thing is hand-on sensations, feeling, everything a band would give, I do it when I¡¦m on stage, when I write a lyric or a song through my voice, my face and my body. The voice of the band is the contact between the music and the people.
6. How did you come to join 3rd Room?
Roberth started composing some new tracks that he couldn¡¦t use for his former band. His musical inspiration was changing since years ago, so during the last summer he decided to leave them to follow a new musical inspiration.
The inspiration became 3rd RoOm, so he started some auditions to find out a voice for the new project. We were friends and I asked him to let me listen to his music and I completely felt in love with it! So I asked him to let me try and I¡¦m so lucky because he tried out a lot of voices and some professional singers too but at last he chose me¡KI still don¡¦t know why!!!
7. From the songs on the EP, is there one that you think really captures the 3rd Room sound best?
Sure, that¡¦s Falling Leaf! This track captures completely our sound and aims and we think is the best song in this EP is the most full-grown song. The lyric is the one I prefer- sad but intense and very important for me because it tells a part of my life, it¡¦s introspective.
8. How have fans responded to 3rd Room?
WOW! I can say only¡KWOW! I¡¦m amazed, they love us ! They write us from every country to tell they appreciate our songs and asking us to go there to perform and asking where they can find our EP or whatever about us. We¡¦re trying to find venues wherever to meet all of them and to know what they think about our music live version.
But we¡¦re not under a label yet so it¡¦s not so easy for us ;)
9. What are your thoughts on the rise of so many excellent female fronted bands?
The same I think about male fronted bands, they¡¦re numerous but to come to light they must have CHARISMA! I could say a beautiful voice or musical talent and it could be also true, but I think that a great voice or a great musician is not the same without charisma.
I¡¦m glad to know that females love that kind of music and that women have at last reached the highest level of success in this kind of music and in a world that was property of men for a long time¡Kbut now we¡¦re as much men as women.
10. Is there any added pressure being a female vocalist in a metal band?
The only difference between a man and a woman singing in a metal band is the visual impact, we don¡¦t make necessarily the sound sweeter , there are excellent female singer they use growl or scream too¡Ksometimes better then the males ;). There are no added pressure for a female vocalist but someone must prove to be a good singer not only a beautiful woman¡Kso no added pressure we often facilitate ;P
11. What is the most important to you when performing 3rd Room's music?
Make my band proud of me, reflect their ideas and aims and at the same time hand-on sensations. Make the fans part of the music I play and let them feel what I feel.
12. What has been your best experience in 3rd Room so far?
The best experience is taking part in this band! Nothing else matters because¡Kusing some words written for one of our songs :¡¨ Here I can be what I am¡Khere no fear no masks¡K¡¨
Answering specific to your quest, I can tell you that something amusing has been the making of the InMyRoOm¡¦s video clip.
13. Are there any touring plans for the near future?
Yes we¡¦re working to find out some venues in Europe and all around the world and we hope someone asks us for USA also¡Kwe¡¦ve a lot of fans there.
14. What do you hope fans get from your music?
I hope my music could be a soundtrack for their life, for better or for worse moments to support them. The same that my music makes for me or the same I get from music I like the most.
