Let's begin with a quick introduction of the band.
A.
We are the Witchbreed and musically we stand on the dark edge of Metal, our genesis is engulfed by the abyss of our own demons, past and present...
Since the fall of 2006 we are bound to 5 elements being:
Ruby (queen of the western light...) - Vocals
Hollow (deviant halo) - Drums
Filipe (sorcerer of the black blade) - guitars
Dikk (wizzard master) - guitars
Ares (wolfshade) - bass

So far we have seen the release of the promo CD "Descending Fires" will we see a full length record in 2007?
A.
We will finish our current tour, in support of "Descending Fires", next 14 of July in Dark Ritual Fest with Samael, and we will enter Medusa Lab studios to finish the mix of 3 new songs, we rather concentrate in our live ritual shows which is what makes us stronger and united as a pack of fierce wolves. We do have plans and ambitions regarding the release of our debut record, but first we will give priority to special releases like we did with our limited promo ep "Descending Fires". The music of Witchbreed represents a very special process for each one of us, be it writing the music, recording or playing each tune we end up releasing, so we want it to be at our own pace. We have about 13 songs pre-produced and ready to be recorded which is something it will happen this fall…

Who will producing the record?
A.
Dikk (guitar) and I will take once more charge of the production, we have the tech knowledge and we know how to achieve the results we expect from the studio work.

What is most important to you when writing the songs?
A.
I think what we really try to achieve in Witchbreed's music is that in every song we can feel ourselves defied by the songs we write, it is like if we dive down in our darkest inner corners and materialize it in the shape of riffs, atmosphere and arrangements capable of broad out our spiritual prism, it's a kind of redemption in darkness.

What kind of feelings did you get from the band when you first starting playing together?
A.
We were highly anxious because we have been working hard and in non-stop mode since October 2006 either in writing, rehearsing or recording… so far people, even if surprised at the first glance on our music and aesthetics have been overall supportive and enthusiastic about Witchbreed, although there is still a lot of ground to break for us…

I think we will be hearing the name Witchbreed a lot more in 2007, so tell us about the name.
A.
Witchbreed represents a legitimate order of our spiritual blue print. We are all in our very own way cast aside characters, so the Witchbreed represents perfectly our imaginary and unique personal universe. We have peculiar features and we hail from a very peculiar country...Also, Marvel Comics 1602 saga is not totally absent of guilt.

After the record what is the next big goal for the band?
A.
To tour abroad, that's our main goal for Witchbreed…But we know that will only be possible if we put a strong record out...We want to take our music and live show to as many countries as possible. That's what we are fighting for every single day…and that day will come, I'm sure.
Q.
How are your live performances going, what are the fan's reaction?
A.
We always feel the responsibility of delivering a good live show, we literally change once we step on stage and the energy we create on stage is similar to a ritual ceremony, from the first chord on we don't control it anymore, it's the music, the senses in display and the aura emanated from the stage to the crowd that commands the show, I would define a Witchbreed show as a mesmerizing experience.

What do you hope fans get from the music?
A.
Like I said before, I expect a very painful expiation of feelings, secret thoughts and shameful deeds…It's not like we are here to cleanse the sins but rather to state that we accept it as a fact of human nature without fear or guilt and embrace it as something as natural and pure as love or hate…

Witchbreed is getting a lot of positive feedback, what are you thoughts on this for the release of the album?
A.
We are working hard and we are absolutely confident that we deserve a future, we are focused in building up a serious credibility through our work, we don't expect any "coupe de grace" to take us directly to stardom, we rely only in ourselves and we are absolutely sure that we want to stay free and independent. We can only thank all those good reviews and excellent feed back to all the special people that have come to know and appreciated Witchbreed.

What has been your best experience so far in Witchbreed?
A.
Playing the few great festivals in Portugal we did so far, big stages, big production and big sound! Even if we feel comfortable enough in small stages where we can control the display of emotion better, the big stages are definitely our ground, we crush everything in a big stage with a big sound….We destroy without mercy!

What does being in this band mean to you?
A.
Redemption through Darkness… I feel truly grateful for what I have achieved those who know my path and past understand how important Witchbreed is to me.
I believe that with Witchbreed we've managed to Darken light and seduce all darkness!
