The Phantom Agony
When Mark Jensen left the famed After Forever, the band lost a talented member. However, his music making plans had just started. He returned to the scene with a new band in town known as Epica. With new members and the talents of a 20 year old vocalist Simone Simons, Epica have crafted a solid first release.
It has a touch, no doubt, of that After Forever sound, however it stands on it's own. Simons sings in a soprano operatic style. The songs contain a good variety of themes, and offer good production and intelligent lyrics. Overall a very good release. Good songs for me Feint, Sensorum, The Phantom Agony. Look for Epica's new release: Consign to Oblivion!
