Not since one of my favorite musical projects known as Dargaard have I heard something of this outstanding quality! Sometimes in the world of metal it is beneficial to step outside those confines and dare to look into other musical worlds.
Opus 2 provides just that experience. A highly imaginative, and darkly beautiful world is yours to explore. In this type of endeavor it is easy to get off track and end up with a odd and strange feel to the music. Phanatos has completly avoided that pitfall, and delivers what can only be described as pure musical art. Blending natural sounds, atmosheric elements, haunting vocal lines, and gothic layers to relay to the listener a beautiful and highly imaginative record.
Opus 2 possesses the ability to truely allow the listener to immerse themselves in the balance and dark beauty of this amazing album. The record contains eight tracks, each of which is a true masterpiece of Gothic inspired art. I especially enjoy the tracks "Voyage (Quest for the Shore of Afrodite), and "The Girl in the Mirror", however with each song being such a gem it is hard to choose one particular favorite.
