Jed Simon ¡V Lead Guitarist

1. So first of all, Congratulations on the birth of baby Eddie! How is the little guy doing?

Jed: Thanks! We're doing great. He's an amazing little boy...he's 3 months old now and is becoming a little person already! He's interacting with us, and laughing and trying his best to talk. Like I said, amazing. He is also the purveyor of massive poops, haha!!

2. How has your life changed since bringing a son into the world?

Jed: Well, it really makes you re-evaluate where you are and what you are doing! It's very hard to put into words...unless you have a child, it's very difficult to explain. And since we are still very new parents, there are so many more things to learn and experience...
The best thing to say right now is that my life has changed for the better!!! It's grounded me in a way that really gives me new focus, I can still be me and do the things I do, but there is a sense of control there now that was never there before...I feel 'whole' now. :)

3. Have you picked out Eddies first guitar?

Jed: Funny you should ask!! My guitar endorser Bernie Rico Jr has just finished building Eddie a mini replica of my new Rico Jr Vixen guitar. It's a bad-ass flying V, all tricked out, and with a killer flame job to match. I'll put some pictures up at the myspace( myspace.com/jedsimon ) profile when the guitars arrive in a couple weeks. And I have to give Bernie a shout out too, if any of you want a serious guitar, you need to visit Bernie's site and have a look. I've never played a guitar like his, they are simply amazing.
Check them out at ricojrguitars.com .

4. Speaking of guitars, how many do you actually own these days?

Jed: A few...haha!

5. Do you have a favorite?

Jed: Hell yes!! My trans-green Bernie Rico Jr Vixen V...it's a fucking work of art!

6. The sound SYL created on "The New Black" was a real mind blower for me. What were the thoughts in the band when writing this beast of an album?

Jed: The thoughts were to just be 'us'. We really didn't want any outside influences, (not that there ever was), but we just wrote what we felt, and the album is a damn good snapshot of where we were at, at that moment in time. Devin of course has always been the ring leader, but we really got our own personalities onto this album. It was the best time I've ever had writing and recording with SYL.

7. If SYL chooses not to grace us with another record. How would you descibe your time in the band?

Jed: It was worth every fucking second. There's a hole in my heart where SYL used to be, but the memories, the brothers, the friends...they all go a long way towards filling it up. Not everyone gets to say that they were in one of the better bands on the planet...of course I'm biased, haha!

8. So I see you are keeping busy musically. Tell us about your other bands.

Jed: TENET and ZIMMERS HOLE. Tenet has been my obsession for quite some time now. The album has been recorded, and needs to be mixed and mastered. I'll get to that right after we finish with the Zimmers Hole album. Kind of 2 things happening at once here, haha! Tenet is a full-on metal-in-your-face album, it's absolutely full of hate, and it needs my complete attention to be done properly, so I want to leave it alone until the ZH is done. Zimmers Hole is me and Byron's other band...if you haven't heard of us...well, then you should do some research, haha! This new album we are working on is a full band production and it needed to be done right now, we are totally ready to rule the Universe...so the time is right for new ZH. Both albums will be released on Century Media early next year and it's my hope that maybe the 2 bands can tour together...that would be killer.
I have 2 other things on the go right now, but am going to wait a bit before I get busy on them. You'll be hearing about them soon though...hehe.

9. What one word best descibes your life at this point?

Jed: Organisedchaos...yes,that's 2 words, but I put them together because that was the 1st thing that came to mind. :)

10. In closing, what is one thing you think fans should know about you?

Jed: I'm a cheap drunk. And I'm never going away, haha!
Come by and visit me anytime at the myspace site listed above, and of course there is tenetforce.com , and zimmershole.com for all your metallic needs!! Thanks everybody! JS
