Dina Falk - Female Vocalist

1. So you are part of both Weltenbrand as well as Erben der Schopfung. Let's begin with Weltenbrand. Your first appearance in the band is on the latest album "The End of the Wizard" This album has been very well received, How does it feel to be part of that great record?

D:
The thing is that I kind of got thrown in. I was picked as singer for Erben der Schopfung first and some weeks afterwards the previous singer of Weltenbrand left the band in the middle of recording "The End of the Wizard". So I had to work VERY fast and change all the female vocal parts because Oliver was not too happy with the ones of the previous singer. I think I had about three or four nights to change the female parts into suitable parts for me and make them a little more interesting and then I allready had to go to the studio. This happened so fast and just about everything was "for the first time" and I did not fully realize all of it at that time.

But now I can say that it was one great and learning experience and I'm happy to be part of it. But it still feels kind of strange sometimes allthough I would not change a single bit of how things are since! And I'm very proud to work with such fantastic musicians!!

2. Weltenbrand itself is a Darkwave band, however you are a fan of Metal as well. Is that correct?

D:
Oh YESSS! I am both; Metalhead (Melodic Black-, Death-, Pagan-...Metal) and Goth (Electro, EBM, Darkwave, Romantic, Medieval....). But I also listen to a lot of Classical Moviem soundtracks or just anything that makes a feeling arise. I guess this is the key to make me listen to something!

3. Erben der Schopfung is another musical outlet for you and your husband Oliver. What would you say is the biggest focal point for Erben der Schopfung as opposed to Weltenbrand?

D:
Erben der Schopfung is much more heavy and contains low and kind of mean guitars but also a lot of electric sounds. The lyrics are based on things that take place every day. Such as cruelty, war in any case, getting old, life and death and paranormal or spiritual things. Weltenbrand is rather classical with Violins, Cello, Orcestral mixes but also bass guitar and drum and since July two female front singer. The lyrics are based on sagas. The last five albums where based on the "Book of Sagas of Liechtenstein" and the next will be based on the book of sagas of Glarus (my hometown) since the Sagas of Liechtenstein get a rarity.

Both bands are spherical but EDS is going to be a little heavier.

4. In Weltenbrand your image is one of classic beauty, however the promo pics for Erben der Schopfung are much more striking. Tell us why the big contrast?

D:
Oliver who is founder of both bands has both sides. And also he is interested in both themes: Sagas and Classical. Dark/Heavy and striking.

5. When performing music, do you feel the visual aspect should match what the music portrays?

D:
Absolutely! Visuals support and strengthen the tunes! Also by performing "dressed up" matching the musical theme you transmit the aspect of the lyrics more reliably.

6. So tell us, how is it getting to work with your husband on these amazing musical projects?

D:
My dreams came true all in one! :) And I think even because it is my husband I can understand his music and create suitable vocal lines and lyrics or even complete his compositions if he gets stuck in a song or a melody. And it also makes me proud standing my ground at his side and supporting him! It's also very fun to just talk whole days about music and all the things that go with it. That was a dream of both of us!

7. Is there ever a musical conflict between the two of you?

D:
Hm...we never have conflicts about music. Since we just feel the same way about it and have the same way of listening to it we only have some discussions about different aspects of it. It's not even necessary to explain each other why we did it this or that way. But it's still fun to talk about it and discuss things! We also have a clear, natural working structure so we will never get into each others way.

8. I see you had a black wedding, what was the idea ,if any behind it?

D:
I just don't look good in white... haha! No, we both just did not want to have a white wedding because it would not fit! We both felt good wearing black and since we did not have a church wedding it also felt appropriate. But I guess if there ever would be a church wedding I also would wear black. ;) (Just for fun and seeing how people react!)

9. What is coming in the next few months for these two bands?

D:
We are working paralell on new albums for both bands. Both will be released about at the end of this or beginning of next year depending on the flow of each bands songs. But in between we hopefully are going to be able to produce another project or two of other bands.

This year we will probably have another gig or two with Weltenbrand and next year we hope a lot of gigs with both bands! I guess this will keep us pretty buisy for a while!:)

10. What do you hope fans get from the music you have created?

D:
First of all we want to make people really listen closely again to music and discover details. Take some time to drift away. Second we want to help and touch some people out there with out lyrics (especially the ones of EDS)and touch and inspire them with our music. Third we want to make people think about some things. Fourth we just want them to have fun listening!
